La diversité fait encore jaser !

La place des femmes dans les entreprises fait encore jaser. À l’approche de la saison des assemblées, plusieurs entreprises se verront viser par des propositions d’actionnaires qui touchent des questions de diversité. Afin d’en savoir plus sur cet enjeu, voici deux rapports fort intéressants qui ont été publié récemment.

NEI a récemment publié un rapport sur la place des femmes sur les conseils d’administration

Ce rapport All Aboard: Increasing Corporate Board Diversity mentionne:

« Canada has an enviable record on many aspects of gender equality – half of our Federal cabinet members are women, 62% of university graduates are female, women won 16 of Canada’s 22 medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics and our ratio of female to male labour force participation is among the highest in the world at 87.2%.

But these achievements have not been mirrored in our corporate boardrooms. In 2017, only 14% of Canadian board seats were occupied by women, while just over 4% of TSX Composite Index companies had a female chair.2 That is why diversity, and board diversity in particular, is a core component of our engagement program at NEI.3 Our long-term vision for the Canadian board landscape is one where corporate boards re ect the diversity and strength of Canadian society. »

Vigéo a aussi sorti un rapport récemment, mais sur la place des femmes dans les postes de la haute direction.

Ce rapport Gender diversity in corporate senior management:glass ceiling yet to be cracked  mentionne:

« The disparate levels of female representation in governance and management bodies between different countries illustrate the unequal impact of the regulatory provisions (quotas, regulations and national legislations) on this theme. Whilst gender quotas have an impact on the composition of boards of directors and supervisory boards, they are not enough to influence the composition of companies’ executive teams. Female representation in positions of senior management seems to remain, to a large extent, conditional on the discretion of men, amongst other social and cultural circumstances. »
